The ED has filed chargesheet against the aides of Suspended Rural Development Department Chief Engineer Birender Ram in the court of Special Judge, PMLA, PK Sharma. Among these close ones, there are serious allegations against Birendra Ram's CA, Mukesh Mittal's associate Neeraj Mittal, hawala businessman Ram Prakash Bhatia and Tarachand who invested money by forming a fake company.
The chargesheet details how Neeraj Mittal, an aide of Birendra Ram's CA Mukesh Mittal, used to channel Birendra Ram's black money to Tarachand for investment. With this money, Tarachand got his one Aadhaar and four PAN cards made in the fake name.
A company was formed with this name and the money sent by Birendra Ram was invested in it. This money was used to enter the bank account of Birendra Ram's wife Rajkumari Devi and father Genda Ram through the company. Ram Prakash Bhatia used to transport Birendra Ram's money from Ranchi to Delhi through hawala. Keep in mind that Birendra Ram's father and wife are both in jail.
The ED's special court had refused to grant anticipatory bail to Birendra Ram's father Genda Ram and wife Rajkumari Devi. Both of them have now approached the High Court for bail. The ED had arrested Birender Ram on 22 February. Earlier, raids were conducted at his 24 locations, from where documents related to acquisition of property including jewellery worth Rs 1.5 crore were recovered.
Sources said that there is a lot of money in the commission game. A budget of Rs 615 crores has been prepared for the 'Chief Minister Gram Sadak Yojana' in the current financial year. According to the provision, a plan of two and half times i.e. about 1500 crores is being taken. According to the system, out of Rs 1500 crores, 4.5 per cent is to be recovered in the Chief Engineer's office itself. Rs 70 crores are being taken just like that, added sources.
