Changing demography tops RSS meet agenda

The executive body of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will be deliberating upon perceived demographic changes in the country, especially in the State of Assam and similar concerns of Indians getting outnumbered by foreigners in West Bengal in the three-day All India Executive Body meeting that will be held in Ranchi.

Sangh also expressed concern over the “imbalance in population” highlighted by the religion census during a Press conference organised ahead of the three-day meeting in Ranchi from Friday. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is in the Capital City along with senior functionaries of the Sangh for the past four days.

The Sangh on Thursday finalised the proposals to be discussed in the meeting starting on Friday. All senior functionaries of 42 regions of the country will take part in the meeting at Sarla Birla Ground in Ranchi. Former spokesperson of RSS Ram Madhav has also reached Ranchi to attend the programme.

Citing startling revelations made on the ever changing demography in State of Assam and the finding of the Hazarikia Commission formed to investigate shifting demographic pattern in the eastern State, RSS’ Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Manmohan Vaidya said that a proposal is likely to come up on population and demography during the three-day meet which will also decide the Sangh’s policy for future.

“The population figures which shows the imbalance in growth of population will be discussed and a policy to educate people is likely to put for discussion in the meeting. A proposal is also likely to come on the recent revelations made by the Hazarika Commission about the way demography in Assam and West Bengal is changing and the possibility of foreigners outnumbering Indians if the situation prevails,” said Vaidya.

The pracharak pramukh of Sangh added that the country must take up the issue of fast changing demography in the country as it is likely to collect ground realities in all its divisions as well to factor in that in its policies.

“People have come from all parts of the country and they will share information here. All issues will be discussed here and whatever views that evolved will be presented before all in the form of a proposal,” he said.

The one-man commission, set up by the Supreme Court on the India-Bangladesh boundary issue, has recommended that a high-powered committee enquire into various issues relating to illegal migrants. Senior advocate Upamanyu Hazarika, who was appointed by the court in May, had submitted a 53-page report on the issue with suggestions to control influx.

Meanwhile, around 350-400 people from across the country will participate in the meeting which has been organised at Sarla Birla School in Mahilong. Senior pracharaks of the Sangh will turn up at the meeting which is held twice in a year to give direction to RSS and its vision for the country.

Among other agendas that will be tabled for discussion is visit by pracharaks to various parts of the country to strengthen the organization, taking up issues of social significance and the growing number of internet savvy youngsters willing to join the organisation.
