Chamber to elect its leaders today

Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) voters will exercise their franchise on Sunday at Marwari Bhawan, Harmu Road, to decide fate of 21 candidates each from team Ranjeet Garodia and team Mukul Taneja apart from one Independent candidate. Both the team leaders fighting for the presidential chair in the largest trade body in the State, Mukul Taneja and Ranjeet Garodia, have campaigned passionately to lure 3,002 registered voters in their favour.

Meanwhile, the Chamber organised its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the day in which General Secretary Ranjeet Garodia presented annual report of 2016-17 which was accepted by the existing board. He said that mobile application for Chamber members and concept of Chamber on Wheels to various parts of the State to understand local issues of traders and get them rectified by government bodies were appreciable steps and were likely to be continued by upcoming board as well.

President Vinay Agrawal on his last day in office thanked members for their support during AGM, saying that his team succeeded in standing up to 18 out of 19 promises his team had made last year to the traders. “I couldn’t succeed in getting Transport Nagar established, the only unachieved target which I am sure the upcoming team will try its best to get done. I have worked for better relationship with the government and the results have started reflecting in the developments we came across in many sectors,” said Agrawal.

Interestingly, team Garodia and team Mukul Taneja have been fighting this year election on two different lines. “While issues before the Chamber are important, we will have to make collective effort to look at why the Chamber was established and how it could be turned in a statewide representative body, which has appeared confined to the boundaries of city more like Ranchi Chamber of Commerce,” said Mukul Taneja.

At the same time, Ranjeet Garodia has banked upon issues before traders in the State, including electricity, water, roads, Goods and Services Tax (GST) and other problems which the trader fraternity had been suffering from day in and day out. He also finds his stint as General Secretary satisfactory for traders.
