Getting apprehensive after Agriculture Minister Randhir Singh’s snub to the proposal for dissolving Agriculture Marketing Committee, popularly known as Bazar Samiti, the largest business conglomerate of Jharkhand has put their gloves off. Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) in its general meeting on Thursday passed a unanimous resolution in this regard after concluding that the Bazar Samiti has completely lost its relevance in the State and become a fertile ground for corrupt practices.
“The FJCCI though its general body meeting has completely rejected the existence of the Agriculture Bazar Samiti. The Federation has given time till May 15 to the Government to dissolve the Bazar Samiti. In the State level meeting the Federation has also formed a 10-member committee with Bikash Singh as coordinator to do the task,” said president of FJCCI Ratan Modi after the meeting.
He added that on previous occasions, their request for the dissolution of the Bazar Samiti had been kept aside citing coalition compulsions within the Government. “Now the situation has changed and there is a full majority Government in Jharkhand. We have high expectations from this Government as well. BJP leader and now Union Minister Rajnath Singh had assured for the same. Chief Minister Raghubar Das had also said about this in his pre-poll consultation and assured to do that in 100 days. Now we all have to take a call as the attitude of the Government is also satisfactory in this direction,” added Modi.
The Minister had few days ago spoken in the support of the continuation of the Bazar Samiti terming the demand for its dissolution from some “selfish persons”. He had cited example from Bihar where situation of farmers, as per him, had gone down further after the State decided to do away from the system.
The FJCCI has alleged the role of self interest on the part of office bearers of the Bazar Samiti which is coming in the way of its dissolution. Members this time expressed their commitment in this direction as there is no hurdle before the Government headed by the BJP with complete majority.
“We have played our role in the Government formation and it is up to the Government to give its dues. We need urgent solution of the problem,” said a member Sambhu Gupta. lalit Sharma, Tarachand Jain and other businessmen from various parts of the State are members of the 10-member committee that would work as a pressure group with the Government.
