'Chachas' kill boy who saw them looting

Four villagers killed a child, who used to call them chacha (uncle), in Palamu. The crime took place in Palamu’s Soba village which comes under Haidernagar police station. The child’s folly was that he knew these uncles looted a trader on bicycle.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hussainabad Nasrullah Khan, the child Divya Prakash saw his ‘village chachas’ — Nandan, Ashok, Dipak and Munna — looting a pheriwallah some three weeks back and narrated it to his father who then told all and sundry in the village about these four.  The DSP said the four were too nervous and became revengeful as the boy’s version had damaged their image. Further, DSP Khan said the victim pheriwallah who sells lungi, bedsheets, pillow covers on a bicycle and was looted by these four did not lodge any FIR with the Haidernagar police station.

The four then began to corner the child and on January 4 lured him with some fruits. They took the boy to a cave where he was crushed to death with stone. His body was recovered on January 8. The recovery was possible after the accused showed the police the crime area. “The four killed the child as he was an eyewitness to the loot of the pheriwallah and knew the the accused by their names”, added the DSP.  Khan said the family ought to have stopped the child from narrating the incident or the father should have avoided telling the story quoting his son.Khan denied that there was any laxity on the part of the police. The four were caught and jailed on January 8 itself he added. They are not repentant of this nasty crime added the DSP.
