On the instructions of Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand, K Ravi Kumar, continuous efforts are being made to improve the condition of all the polling stations in the state. Recently, a random social audit of 600 polling booths of the state was conducted by the Social Audit Unit, in which the report was not satisfactory. On this, the Chief Electoral Officer has not only issued instructions to the officers of his department to go to the districts to see the ground situation, but he himself is also going to different districts to see the situation.

On Tuesday the CEO made a surprise inspection of some booths in the two districts of Jamshedpur and Seraikela-Kharsawan, where the ground situation was not as per the standards expected by the Election Commission of India, on this he not only informed the Deputy Commissioners of the said two districts but also all the Deputy Commissioners of the state. While issuing a demi-official letter to the co-district election officers, they have given an ultimatum of three weeks that within the above mentioned time limit, the condition of all the polling stations in the state should not only be in accordance with the standards set by the Election Commission of India but should also be better than those standards.

He said that if the polling stations are clean, well-groomed and equipped with minimum requirements, then a good atmosphere will definitely be created and our objective of 'family-voting' will be strengthened. He said that just as we celebrate our festivals with cleanliness and decoration, so that elections can also be celebrated like a festival, first of all we will have to make our polling centers clean.

During this visit, local officials including Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer and Superintendent of Police of the respective districts were present with him.
