Hitting hard on the Central Government for not controlling rising inflation Jharkhand's Finance and Food Supply Minister, DrRameshwarOraon, on Thursday said that the Central Government is completely failing in controlling rising prices of essential commodities.
Oraon said that the Government has no roadmap to control inflation, while the common man is plagued by rising inflation. It has become very difficult now to run a family for the poor and middle class people, he added.
Talking to media persons the Finance Minister said that there is a knock-on effect due to the increase in the price of petrol and diesel, the transportation cost of every essential item increases due to which the price of everything is increasing. “The whole economy is being affected by this. The Government, whose responsibility is to control the price, is engaged in some other work, the Central Government has nothing to do with the problems of the people. If we say in the language of economics, the Government is pickpocketing.
Responding to a question regarding the success of petrol subsidy to poor families in Jharkhand, DrOraon said that people are also being misled about the petrol subsidy scheme launched by the Jharkhand government therefore; the number of people taking subsidies has reduced. “An attempt was made to spread the illusion among the people that by taking subsidy on the basis of ration card month after month, the food grains received from the ration card would be stopped. On the other hand, it has come to the fore that many people have taken second hand bikes and the name of the owner of the vehicle has not been transferred, due to which they are not getting the benefit of the subsidy scheme despite having a ration card,” he added.
In response to another question, the Finance Minister said that the Central Government is trying to destabilize the Government in non-BJP ruled states.
On this occasion, senior state Congress leaders Alok Kumar Dubey, Lal KishorenathShahdeo and Rajesh Gupta said that the rate of wholesale inflation had reached the level of 14.55 percent in the month of March, while it had reached 13.11 percent in February. “Wholesale inflation on food items has also increased from 8.47 per cent to 8.71 per cent. At the same time, retail inflation has reached a 17-month high of 6.95 percent. A state-wide agitation will be launched by the party against rising inflation, they added.
