A 15-member team from the Central Ministry of Health was in Hazaribagh since last three days to enquire about the progress of DOTS plus program underway in entire country to make India tuberculosis-free.
The team led by Additional Director General (Tuberculosis) Dr Neerak Kulshreshtha visited various TB centres running in the district either by Government or by NGOs during these three days.
On the concluding day of their visit, the team members met with DC Sunil Kumar and talked about the deficiencies they found during their visit. During this meeting Civil Surgeon Dr Dharamveer was also present who answered the queries of central team on behalf of district administration.
As per information, the central team visited almost every TB center and during their visit they talked with the patients. The main questions which the central team was asking were about the distribution of medicines, how the patients are getting medicines, availability of medicines, the number of TB patients in the area, whether it has gone down or not, the role of staffs of TB centers and mortality rate due to TB in the area.
Although the team members flatly refused to give detailed data, some members hinted that the performance of the district can be rated as average. The staff of local health department who were on several spots with the team during their visit said that the leader has himself said good to the staffs of some centers while in some blocks they looked unsatisfied.
