Cellular connectivity to improve in Palamu

Published on:

Cellular connectivity is likely to improve in the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) hit Palamu district where there are many obstinate network shadow areas, said sources.

One such network shadow area is at Dagra, more than 60 kilometers away from Daltonganj where there is a security camp to thwart any naxal assemblage or passage.

Here cell phone connectivity is pathetic said SP Palamu Chandan Kumar Sinha. He said cops here face acute hardships in talking to their families and parents.

Sinha said installing telecom tower is likely to benefit Dagra security camp, which has a defunct tower as of now.

State Government’s IT–e-governance has eased the process of the installation of the telecom towers, said sources.

DCs have now been asked to issue no objection certificate to the service providers to install telecom towers, said sources.

Earlier no objection certificate was issued for the installation of the telecom tower by the secretary IT e governance.

Sources said apart from this scale down all other

conditions for the installation of the telecom tower

remain the same.

Convener of the telecom tower committee here in Palamu Shailesh Kumar said a total of 94 applications are registered for the installation of the Telecom tower.

Sources said fee for the installation of the Telecom tower is the lowest in Jharkhand in comparison to other states like Himachal Pradesh etc.

In Jharkhand it is Rs 20,000 for the urban areas, Rs15,000 for the semi urban areas and Rs10,000 in the rural areas where on payment of the fee and proper and adequate presentation of papers and documents a service provider can have his Telecom tower installed.

Sources said if an application for the installation of the Telecom tower is not disposed of in 60 days, then the applicant has a right to presume his no objection certificate is with him. No telecom tower is to come up on the GM land or irrigational canal or where it is feared to interfere with the low tension and high tension electricity wire.

Forest and fire clearances are a prerequisite for the installation of the telecom tower.

District Informatics officer Ranvir Singh said out of the 94 applications 44 were at the secretary IT egovernance Ranchi which following this scale down has been sent to the DC here for the needful.

Singh said he would have to check if the three slab of fees for the installation of the telecom tower is a one-time

payment or it is to come every year for renewal of no objection certificate.

Sources the heat of shadow cellular network is felt most in times of election be it vidhan sabha or lok sabha forcing police administration to go for satellite service.

Sources said security forces like BSF, ITBP, SSB etc which come here invariably used to feel the network missing while in long range patrolling for sanitizing the areas in and

around the polling booths and passage to it.
