In a bid to a better future for the poor children often found begging on city roads, temples, shrines and other places the Central Coalfields limited has opened its doors to provide them free education at one of its facilities. CCl CMD Gopal Singh said on Thursday that the organisation will ensure that child beggars are identified and sent to the coal firm’s school where they would be given free education and other facilities.

“We have opened Kayakalp Public School at Kanke Road for children of the destitute. At present there are 30 kids in the school and in last six months there is tremendous change in their orientation towards life. They have developed understanding of things and they have also started receiving formal education. This school is specially meant for poor children including beggars and destitute,” said Singh addressing media persons here on Thursday.

“We want Ranchi to become such a city where no child beggar is seen. If any beggar kid is found in the city one just need to give his/her address to us. We already have a school for them where they can get quality education free of cost,” he added.

The CM said that the primary focus of the firm was to contribute in the development of the nation and the State. He said that Jharkhand is known for several negative issues but he has a different opinion about the State and the people. “Apart from our primary work that is coal production and dispatch we have to fulfill the aspirations of the people of the country and State. We have been consistently trying to contribute in social transformation by means of our efforts in the field of education, health and other sectors,” said Singh.

The CMD cited examples of industrial training institute in Bhurkunda, Skill Development Centre at Barkakana and Sports Academy at Kehlgaon, Ranchi. He explained how the lives of several youths and kids from Ranchi are being changed through initiatives being taken by the Miniratna Company.

Talking about the achievement of CCl in the first quarter of financial year 2018-19 the CMD said that the company has registered overall 13 per cent growth in coal production from April 1 to July 11, which is a great achievement and confidence booster for the firm. He said that in July itself the Coal India subsidiary has registered 17 per cent growth and 41 per cent growth in overburden removal. In coal dispatch also, the company registered a double digit growth of 11 per cent.
