CCl CMD, Gopal Singh interacted with the Panchayat representatives on Tuesday. The interaction dealt with the process of admission in the Sports Academy at Hotwar. Notably, under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme ‘Kayakalp’, CCl has taken the responsibility of 12 districts in collaboration with state government to guide the unprivileged kids falling in the age group eight to 10 years in different sports.

The session is likely to initiate from June 2016 at Hotwar sports complex. The selection criteria will kick off from the last week of May at different places across the state. “Jharkhand Government and CCl will bear the entire cost of a child who will qualify and get admitted at sports academy. We have collaborated with DAV school and the kids will be admitted in class four for their academics. Apart this, children will be given stipend of Rs. 500 every month,” said Singh.

“The selection criteria will be transparent and the entire selection process will be recorded. The process and merit list will be uploaded on official website too. The motto is to target maximum people especially the kids who reside in interior belts for their overall progress in the field of sports. To qualify the test eight parameters have been set,” he added.

The responsibility of bringing kids to various sports complexes for the selection procedure has been handed over to the Panchayat representatives. The proposed sports University is governed by the Memorandum of Association, Memorandum of Understanding and Sankalp of State Government.

The University will offer state of the art facilities to enhance the physical, psychological, spiritual and intellectual development of young sports enthusiasts. The university will serve as a key institution for promotion and development of sports in the state. In the first stage of the selection process, 200 children will be selected from 12 districts and finally 39 children will be selected at second and final round at Hotwar.

The seven academies for hockey, volleyball, archery, badminton, football, swimming and table tennis would function under the proposed varsity set up under the joint venture. 200 elected Panchayat representatives from 12 districts across the state attended the session.
