The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday conducted raids at three centres of Steel Authority of India limited (SAIl) officials in Ranchi as well as several locations in nine other cities across the country in connection with illegal appointments of relatives of politicians and bureaucrats at Bokaro Steel limited (BSl). The raids were also conducted at Bhopal, Bokaro, Delhi, Patna, Bhubaneshwar, Mumbai and National Capital Region.
The raids were conducted at former State Governor Syed Sibtey Razi and two others — BJP Rajya Sabha candidate from Madhya Pradesh Satyanarayan Jatiya and retired Jharkhand High Court Judge DGR Patnaik. “The raids are being conducted at various locations in 10 cities all over the State including Ranchi,” said a CBI official in Dhanbad. The vacancies for attendant (coordinators) were advertised without any necessity for BSl’s project at Bettiah in 2007, he said.
