CBCS of VBU gets a cold response

Published on:

last year choice based credit system was introduced at degree level in Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh. Only nine months have passed of the start of this CBCS system and now due to its complication and lack of important information it is getting popular as Chal Bhaag College Se like the popular abbreviation of BSNl (Bhai Sahab Nahi lagega).

At the time of introduction of this system the VBU administration has claimed that after proper discussion and various rounds of meetings this system has been introduced.

Classes of first semester of this system started in July and finals exams of theory papers have just concluded. It simply means that it has already delayed by three months. After Holi vacation classes of semester II will start but it is also clear that the teachers will remain busy in evaluation work in entire month of April.

The term Chal Bhaag College Se came in talks when the admit cards of first semester exam were distributed. The students studying enrolled in pass course found that English has been made compulsory for them.

In VBU and other universities also, the students who score less than 45 per cent at inter level take admission in this course.

It simple means that they are weak students who have just passed the inter exam and for these students getting 40% pass marks is like climbing on Everest.

When such students complained about it the college administration replied that we cannot do anything because in CBCS English has been made compulsory for you in first and second semesters.

If you want to continue then appear in the exam or leave the college and take admission in other university. And from here Chal Bhaag College came into existence.

It is not only the problem of students enrolled in pass course but the students of honors subject which has been named core courses here are also puzzled.

In CBCS they will have to study skill enhancement course and discipline specific elective paper. It will start from 3rd semester.

At the time of registration the VBU administration played a trick and deleted the space for giving this information in online registration form and the students got registered only by filling their core subject, generic subject and ability enhancement compulsory course (English, MIl or Regional language).

Initially there was columns in online registration form for giving information about DEC and SEC but since colleges were not aware or prepared so these columns were deleted.

Admission has been taken but the students yet not know what paper or subject they will have to choose or read from third semester onwards which is going to come only after three months.
