Rajya Sabha member Mahesh Poddar on Saturday praised Chartered Accountants (CAs) for their contribution in nation building.

Inaugurating two-day CA students’ conference by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) in CMPDI under aegis of ICAI Board of Studies, Poddar said that CA course in India was considered among the toughest courses in the world and presence of CA students in such a huge number was testimony of how the State guys were aspired to become CAs.

Poddar said that importance of CA multiplied manifold post roll-out of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the country this year, as they played a pivotal role in successful implementation of the new tax regime and helped country switching into uniform taxation era. “CAs work like a doctor to trade industry. It is in fact a matter of pride that ACAI stands on 2nd position in entire world in terms of quality of course which it provides, and demand of Indian CAs due to this very quality has remained increasing year after year,” added Poddar.

CAs from across the country gathered in the conference to share their expertise with students, and to shun their quest of knowledge along with preparing them for possible challenges before them and the industry in future. Central Indian Regional Council President CA Deep Kumar Mishra said during inaugural session that CA was a prestigious profession and CAs were looked at with utmost respect anywhere in the world.

“This is also because of the quality and standard of the course that ICAI has prepared for CA students. The Institute keeps revising its course with changing needs of the market and keeps incorporating subjects being in the limelight in institutes of other parts of the world,” said Mishra.

ICAI Ranchi Chapter President CA Ashish Kushwaha said that Ranchi succeeded in obtaining organising consent for the event after painstaking efforts second time in last three years. “This is why I believe that students appearing in the event must try to make maximum out of it. Students from various parts of country will present their research papers which could be highly beneficial for rest of the students,” said Kushwaha.

CAs present in the event on first day also asked students to take their training period seriously as that was only time for students to evaluate their earned knowledge on practical grounds.
