The campus of Ranchi Women’s College (RWC) on Saturday was abuzz with students, eagerly waiting for their screening session round.
With a number of opportunities ahead in the corporate world, the first ever career conclave cum campus placement drive organized under the aegis of Employability Excellence with College Education and learning (EXCEl) programme and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai grabbed the attention of students in sufficient number aiming high to get job in a reputed company.
As many as 50 companies serving in different fields took a screen test of the best suitable candidates on the spot, offering jobs for the post of front office executives to business development executives.
Emphasizing on the need of trained manpower in the specialized sectors, Programme lead from Jharkhand, National University Students’ Skill Development (NUSSD) programme, Raman Ballabh, on the occasion, made students aware about the Central Government programme that aims to train students in different trades in collaboration with TISS.
Recently, Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society (JSDMS) had signed an MoU with TISS, Mumbai and Il&FS, New Delhi for providing training to the students in different trades.
The training service providers (TSP) have designed the course seeking the requirement of the pass out students as well as for the students enrolled in the final year of graduation programme, including intermediate pass students.
“The programme is a platform for the companies to explain their human resource requirement to the students. In the first series, the programme witnessed the participation of more than one thousand students. Around 600 students of final year, including alumni are already enrolled under EXCEl programme and are ready to join industries starting from month of February to June 2018,” said, State Programme Manager, EXCEl, Pradeep Gupta.
Meanwhile, Gupta said that soft skill training will be imparted to the trainees covering seven major domains to boost their outlook from November 17 under EXCEl programme. “Under the certificate course in management and soft skills training programme which is especially designed looking at the requirement of the beginners while keeping the industry integrated approach in mind, knowledge of English, digital literacy, analytical skills, youth leadership and people skills, ethics etc will be imparted to the selected candidates,” Gupta added.
The programme was organized with a purpose to bridge the gap and create a sustainable ecosystem in the state for boosting employment while skilling the human resources. Predominately, the event provided an interaction opportunity for the students with organization representatives on future job roles and pre placements issue.
“This is the first time, when I am submitting my curriculum vitae for the job of business development executive.
Considering, the programme that provides on-the-spot job screening of the deserving candidates seeking the present as well as the future employment opportunities, it is beneficial for the students in several terms as our resume will be kept in the company’s database for future reference,” said a final year Zoology Honours student, Anjali Sinha.
