Campaign is on full swing these days for the civic polls which is scheduled to be held on April 7. Since the candidates have now only two days to woo their voters and make them aware of their symbol and his/her number in the EVM so the campaign is on full swing.
After Holi, the campaign started slowly but nowadays from 8am to 8pm the voters are compelled to hear the patriotic and parody songs played on high volume with the help of loudspeakers along with the vote appeal of the concerned candidate. In each ward, atleast four to five such campaign vehicles can be seen anytime in between the duration of 12 hours time.
Everyone is trying to attract the voters with the song like ‘Mere desh premiyon, aapas me prem karo’, while other is saying ‘Ae mere watan ke logon’. The Ex-winners have song ‘Chhodo kal ki batein’ and his/her rival is reminding you ‘Kar chale ham fida jano tan satthiyon’.
Use of Bhojpuri and Nagpuri songs is also going on to this election. Parody of famous Bhojpuri and Nagpuri songs with appeal to vote has a special class of listeners and lovers too. So to attract those voters some are giving the message that ‘Machhar bhagaito re, roadwa banaito re’, and some are appealing ‘Seva ke diha mauka, apne chaua ke’.
One thing is clear that in this race of campaign the local singers, music composers, vehicle owners, music system owners, flex/pamphlet/posters/
hoarding makers are those who already have encashed the opportunity.
