Though mercury has taken a nosedive with the beginning of December but the heat related to campaigning is on the high with few days left for polling. Candidates are seen sweating to attract the voters.

“This is an important election for us and since villages play pivotal role so it is important to spread party’s resolve in the rural belt. Moreover, most of the seats in Kolhan are in rural belt so our focus would be on rural areas,” Anil Modi, spokesperson, district BJP.

Presently, Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency comprises the following six Vidhan Sabha (legislative assembly) segments Baharagora Ghatshila, Potka, Jugsalai, Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West.

District president Dinesh Kumar said that the State is gripped with fervour of Modi wave no one can stop BJP. Addressing the media, Kumar said that the party is receiving overwhelming response in Jharkhand and all its candidates will win the polls. He said that the BJP is fighting elections on the basis of development.

Meanwhile, BJP rebel Saryu Roy, who is contesting from Jamshedpur East also attacked his rival candidate for not fulfilling the promise. "The CM has failed to fulfill promises made to the resident. He had said that 86 colonies are either on the government or Tata's land and he will get them the ownership claim. When Tata's lease was renewed in 2005, he excluded these colonies spread in 1,700 acres of land. When he became the CM, he took a U-turn and said it was never on his agenda. The residents have vowed to vote for change this time," noted Roy.

Candidates from the three Jamshedpur constituencies, Jamshedpur East, Jamshedpur West, Jugsalai, turned the focus of their campaign to street-by-street and door-to-door canvassing.

Along with the high profile visits and rallies of the leaders of major political parties, candidates are working hard to cover the entire constituency. They have turned their attention to micro-level problems and demands during the street-by-street campaign.

Abhay Singh, JVM candidate from Jamshedpur East, went on to Sitaramdera and interacted with the voters. He assured them that if he voted for Assembly he will focus on construction roads, bridges and ensure proper drinking water and power in his constituency.

Congress candidate from Jamshedpur West Banna Gupta also been focussing on ward-wise door-to-door campaign in recent days. His focus is Mango, Kadma and Bistupur.

“We have promised better civic services for the residents of non-company area. Better traffic and basic infrastructure is all I promise,” says Gupta.

Political parties and the candidates are equally focusing on public meetings and roadside campaigns through vehicles. Independent candidate is also focusing on door to door campaign. He is interacting with the voters of Baridih, Sakchi and Burmamines.
