Candidates relax their minds ahead of counting

With barely 48 hours left for the counting, candidates of Ranchi’s three urban segments are relaxing their minds.

Some are outing with family while others are hanging out with friends or party members for a ‘feel good’ moment healing their anxiety for the poll-result. Interestingly, the scenario is more visible among the non-Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders. The exit poll’s prediction of BJP’s majority seat winning may probably seem the reason.

Jharkhand State Commission for Women chairperson Mahua Maji who represented Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) from Ranchi constituency is concentrating on cooking and writing articles to tackle her nervousness. “After a long time, this weekend was dedicated to my family. I am enjoying with my husband and children. My sister staying out of Jharkhand is about to come. I am preparing variety of dishes. Keeping myself busy with family will hopefully help me avoid that stress caused before result,” she said.

Interestingly, Hatia Constituency’s Congress candidate Alok Kumar Dubey hanged out with wife and kids in many restaurants, parks and temples in the past one week. He said, “We rarely get time to relax with family. I even made sure to watch PK movie on the first day of release with my children. They are happy. Whatever be the result, we have to accept it.” Dubey offered prayers back-to-back at Deori temple, Jagannathpur temple and Sai Baba temple.

Similarly, former management student of Marwari College cum a candidate of Communist Party of India (Marxist-leninist) Vikas Chandra Sharma from Hatia is spending time by chatting with his friends and party members. “I often going through my social network profiles to check what latest is happening in the lives of my friends. Moreover, I am learning more about politics from my seniors. This is something I have been doing ever since polls concluded on December 2,” he said.

Kanke Constituency’s Congress candidate Suresh Kumar Baitha is performing his puja rituals every morning. “I am updating myself with what all is happening within the city nowadays. Puja toh roz karta hi hoon (I keep worshipping the almighty everyday). Independent candidates seem to ignore the anxiety by making them feel that they can dare to win.

lawyer Rakhi Kumari from Ranchi and her competitor Birendra Kumar Jaiswal are feeling encouraged after the polls by telling their friends daily that they will surely win. “This is my first time but I know I will definitely win,” Kumari was heard while speaking to a friend.
