With the Assembly elections just around the corner, the political temperature is set to soar as campaigning has picked up the pace in Bokaro and Chandankiyari constituencies.

All total of 25 candidates are in the poll fray for Bokaro (369) and 15 for Chandankiyari (37) Assembly seats. Both constituencies will go for poll in the fourth phase on 16 December.

Campaigning is gradually picking up pace in both constituencies as parties as well as independent candidates have started reaching out to voters. In Bokaro constituency, the BJP and JVM (P) seem to be ahead in the campaign as its vehicles already hit the roads a couple of days ago.

Congress candidate Sweta Singh has put in all out efforts to woo voters. Singh also held a meeting with Congress workers at his office and directed the workers to start mobilising people’s support for the Congress candidate across the city.

While Dr Prakash (JVM), Dev Sharma, Rajender Mahato (AJSU), Ashok Choudhary (JDU), A Alam Siddiki (AIMIM- All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen), Sunil Kumar (Janata Party), KK Kaushal (PPI), F Bhattacharya (TMC), Ramakant Verma (Swaraj India), NP Mahato (Hindustan Awam Morcha), Nawal Sharma (RPI), H Nath (AAP), Manoj Kumar (NUCI) while Rajesh Kumar, M Sharma, Sanjay Kumar, P Burman, N Dutta, Jayanti Kumari, Uma Kumari, Renu Sharma, Lalita Devi and Madhusudan along with their supporters are electioneering in the rural as well as urban areas. They are on extensive touring in their constituencies; holding corner meetings in the township areas too.

In Chandankiyari constituency Amar Bauri (BJP), Umakant Rajak (AJSU), Bijay Rajwar (JMM) and other candidates are also electioneering from village-to-village, door-to-door across the constituency.

“Urban areas were equally important as the rural belt, said Sunil Kumar.  It was not just the rural voters but the urban voters could also swing votes in favour of a candidate and ignoring them is not advisable for anyone contesting the election,” he said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other star campaigners is likely to hold a rally in Bokaro and in support of their constants, party spokespersons said.

Chandankiyari constituency will see a bipolar (two-cornered) contest among the BJP and AJSU candidates Amar Bauri and Uma Kant Rajak respectively. While Bokaro constituency is likely to witness a multi-cornered contest, the arch-rivals are BJP, Congress, JVM (P) and few of the independent candidates.

While for the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat, the arch-rivals are PN Singh the sitting MP of BJP and Kriti Azad fighting on the Congress ticket.
