Chief Secretary RS Sharma has directed the officials of Forest and Environment Department to put all the details related to land coming under CAMPA ¼Compensatory afforestation fund management and planning authority) on its website. The website would keep latest account of forest land diverted for various purposes and compensatory land acquired in return.
“Purpose of this is to keep things in public domain. Though we have information regarding this but it was not updated. The website will also show the fund that gets money against the land diverted to PSUs or Government,” said a senior official present in the meeting.
The CS stressed that compensatory land has the first right over the fund received against diversions made and the records in this regard should have no anomalies. He also selected seven areas for 2013-14 like natural forest management, forest conservation, biodiversity protection, use of information technology in forest management as physical and financial targets under the scheme.
