An entrepreneur-cum-photography lover Durgesh Sahu is set to launch a café in his Jungli restaurant at the State capital showcasing the State’s culture and biodiversity.

Sahu felt that somewhere down the line people as a society are neglecting the local art and culture. “I foresee to use this place to promote any kind of art, crafts, debates, talks or exhibitions. We also want to promote budding talents,” he said.

The café named ‘Wild Side’ will serve refreshing menu of coffee and snacks including some from the tit bits of Jharkhand.

Experimenting with his individuality, he inaugurated the Jungli Restaurant in 2004 which has been receiving appreciation from customers till date.

Interestingly, photography for Sahu is a passion. He had put up his first photography exhibition called ‘lOPA’ - love Paris, a collection of pictures made during June 2014 in Paris.

It all started when his father Nandlal Prasad gifted him a camera on his birthday in 1977. Sahu was then studying in Welham Boys School, Dehradun. “The toy was such a joy to posses. The more I was intrigued, the more that contraption became my friend. Those 120 mm black and white negatives became my canvas and the sound of the clicking shutter became music to my ears. That is how my journey began in photography,” he said.

“I carried on doing photography in Mayo College, Ajmer. My teacher, Ramesh Mathur, whom I respect deeply ignited my creative side and taught me the nuances of photography. Every event whether it was sports, quiz, debates, dramatics, outings, the company of friends or the grandeur of the school itself got my shutter bug active,” he added.

Till date Sahu does not miss an opportunity to get behind a camera. He also had the privilege to do photography with renowned National Geographic photographer, Fritz Hoffman. He has compiled a book on Mayo College titled ‘Nostalgia’ in 2011.
