Cable users in Ranchi seem to have got accustomed to repeated deadlines set for submitting details considered necessary for availing cable services. The deadline of November 15 for furnishing complete information has failed to generate response from cable users from the State Capital.
While a consumer is sitting on the user information form provided, the concerned cable operator is paying multiple visits to get the same back with complete information as made mandatory by the Telecom Regularity Authority of India. As per the directive not following the deadline may result in termination of cable services automatically.
“Thanks to the lukewarm response from a customer the process did not gain momentum even a day before the deadline,” said Ibrar Ahmed, a cable service provider. Interestingly, a belligerent customer instead of providing details has added to the woes of a cable operator and on many occasions turn down the request for filling the form on trivial grounds. Due to the non-cooperation by a customer the cable operators believe that it is difficult to the stick to the deadline.
“They (customers) do not seem to be bothered about termination of services and often counter our request for forms with trivial excuses,” added Ahmed. Notably, as per TRAI regulations a customer has to submit three photographs and an identity proof towards registration however many cable operators could not cross even half of their customer base.
“There are at least 30 per cent customers who have misplaced the form and expressed their inability to submit it on time while others have made it a habit of turning us back,” said Shayam Ji, a cable operator in Kokar. Incidentally, the cable operators believe that instead of imposing deadlines the administration must make it continuous process and leave it at the discretion of a cable operator to get the work done.
