A State Cabinet Minister Dinesh Dhanai was said to have sparred with a bureaucrat in course of the Cabinet sub-committee meeting chaired by its chairman and Cabinet Minister Preetam Singh Panwar in the Vidhan Sabha on Friday.
However, the bureaucrat categorically denied that he had been involved in a verbal fight with the Minister. What is learnt is that during the Cabinet subcommittee meeting, Tehri Hydropower Development Corporation (THDC) officials had refused to give details of the rehabilitation status of the affected people when asked to do so by the minister , citing that it was not mentioned in the rules. Peeved by the cold response, the minister said they would recommend such a clause in their report. Reacting sharply, the THDC officials said the meeting was then useless with the minister having pre-determined things. They left the meeting in a huff. However, they were later persuaded to come back.
