Gupta said, “I convened a meeting of traders and businessmen of the town very recently where in 60 to 70 of them took part. Their common problem was the inherent jam on roads.” The DSP further said erratic parking of vehicles, shop keepers extending their business floors right on the roads causing inconveniences to buyers and public were the most talked about issue in this meeting.

Problem of stray cattle on streets too was raised added DSP. Traffic divider too has been found to be creating a problem. Sources said come any mass festival and town police put up bamboo restrictions on vital roads as a part of decongesting the roads for the convenience of women girls and senior citizens.

Anand K Mishra officer in charge of town police station said congestion is created more due to any number of bikes where a biker just wants to be right at the shop. Gupta said it has been seen that shopkeepers themselves extend their business floors right on roads and then start complaining.

Much to the great relief of police none of the participating traders and businessmen in this meeting spoke in any hushed tone or in any camouflaged way about ‘extortion call’ coming to them.

Gupta said there came no such complaint of any extortion calls coming to them in the meeting despite his repeated inquiring about it from the businessmen community. He said, “I have asked them to inform police if they get any discomfort call at any point of time."

He said shopkeepers have CCTV cameras right inside their shops and were advised to have CCTV cameras installed road sides too.

On the issue of gambling, which gets an impetus before or on Diwali night here Gupta said police have identified a few gambling points where police vigil will be too tight.
