'Bunking college classes will not be easy now'

Bunking college classes either by the students or by the teachers will not be any easy now with the Commissioner cum-Vice-Chancellor of Nilamber Pitamber University N K Mishra taking the helm of affairs of this university on November 15.  NK Mishra is a 1986 batch IAS officer.

Talking to The Pioneer Mishra said that classes will have to be taken by the teachers.

“There cannot be any escape. If there comes just one or two students a teacher has no business to put off the class for the reason of any poor presence of students in the class room. Even one student is present only then also the class is to be run. I do not want to say that a teacher should be on the campus from 10 to 4 and takes no class at all. Classes must be engaged,” he said.

“I will be soon visiting the PG centre in the GlA college to see things myself,” he said.

On being asked whether any faculty can be brought in from outside for a warming up of educational expertise the V-C said that there was no harm if faculty from outside is brought in there for the benefit of the teachers and the students. “There is always a room for making improvement.  A teacher may not know all and every thing. He is to acquire it,” he said.

On the question of standard of English to be made more strong and popular with the students he said “Students and teachers must appreciate it. I do not mean literary English. Just functional  English. It is the need of the hour. Without it life is bound to be cumbersome in this present scenario,” Mishra said.
