Scattered currency notes of Rs 10 denomination created panic among the villagers on NH 75 near Lagma village under Garhwa police station on Monday.
10 bundles of currency notes were found lying on the road today and the residents called the police, which called to the medical team for seizing the notes after sanitising them. The local people insisted that the notes had been thrown on the road to spread coronavirus.
"The notes, seized by the medical team after sanitising them, were kept separately," said Civil Surgeon NK Rajak said notes will keep separately for 24 hours."
The residents of the near by villages, meanwhile, remained locked in discussion.
The residents, while maintaining social distancing, discussed the 'threat of corona through currency notes' till the police asked them to return to their homes.
In normal times, the notes would not have remained on the road for long. Any passersby would have quietly picked up the same and walked away without a word.
According to the thana in-charge Ramod Singh "Prima facie it seems that someone must have been taking the note from the bank and it has fallen," we are making contact with all the banks that who withdrawn this note, Singh added.
