I have asked the deputy superintendent of police (headquarters-I) KN Mishra to investigate into what led the accused Rahul fled the medical college and hospital.  I will recommend for action against the policemen on guard duty.  We will register a case against the accused Rahul for fleeing the judicial custody,” said Mathew.
Rahul, who is a driver by profession was undergoing treatment under custody at the surgery ward.  He had sustained bullet injury in his thigh at his house in Teachers’ Colony under Mango police station area late in the night of July 8.The police had suspected that the gun-shot injury might have taken place due to possessing a fire-arms either in his pocket or in the waist, but the accused had claimed that he was shot at and injured by his brother-in-law Pritam Singh and father-in-law Devendra Singh, who resided at Baghbera area.
Mango police had, however, taken Rahul under custody and allowed his treatment in police custody after they had interrogated Devendra Singh and Pritam, and found the allegation lodged by Rahul was false.
