Building Construction Division (BCD) Medininagar has run into muddy waters. A multi lakh repair work carried out by BCD has been found to be of extremely poor and sub standard quality.
Complaints regarding poor and sub standard quality of repair works done by BCD in 4 blocks of the prestigious GlA college here has reached Governor, Jharkhand and two departmental secretaries BCD and Higher technical education & skill development department.
BCD was given repair works worth 65 lakh out of which 25 lakhs was paid to BCD. The repair works are to be done in 4 blocks in the GlA college. Teachers of GlA college are up in arms against the poor and sub standard quality of BCD’s repair works. Teachers have given in writing their sense of utter discontent and dissatisfaction with the quality of repair works done by BCD.
Vice Chancellor of NP university S N Singh said complaints of highly poor and sub standard repair works by BCD has reached the university and accordingly a report to this effect has been sent to Governor Jharkhand and two departmental secretaries each of BCD and higher technical education & skill development department. The executive engineer of BCD here in Medininagar has been asked by NPU to explain this failure of repair works by BCD.
VC said BCD must understand that construction works be it the repair works ought to be in accordance with the specification and there should not be any tough and go affair. He said the NPU will not brook any lowering of quality of work and hence the matter has been reported to Governor. and two departmental secretaries.
OSD J to Governor has been duly apprised of the poor repair works carried out by BCD here.
NPU’s letter to OSD J to Governor reads that BCD’s repair works is such that roof which was not leaking earlier and was treated by BCD for repair has now started leaking. Sources said the leaked ones even after BCD’s repair is leaking and further fresh leakages are from the roofs of GlA college which had no such problem before the onset of repair works of BCD. Sources said the BCD is thus in critical phase of its credibility and quality of works.
Sources said that patching is done only to give a cover up. An identical complaint of poor repair work was heard in NPU’s another college here the J S college where its professor incharge R N Choubey said, “We demand that BCD should ask its people to maintain quality of work as quality of work in his college has been thrown to the wind’.
