To commemorate World Environment Day 2025, the Environment Protection and Sustainability Department of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) launched a large-scale tree plantation campaign across Bokaro Steel City and plant areas, aiming to promote environmental awareness.
The drive began at the Sahbhagita Udyan near the main gate of BSL, where Executive Director In-Charge C.R. Mahapatra planted a sapling, symbolising BSL’s commitment to sustainability. Joining the occasion were CGM (Services) P.K. Baisakhia, CGM (Maintenance) Sharad Gupta, CGM (Town Services) Kundan Kumar, CGM (Environment & Sustainability) D.K. Saxena, along with other senior executives and staff.
A total of 51 saplings were planted at the venue. Similar plantation activities were also held at CRM-III and the Sinter Plant inside the plant premises.
Since its inception, BSL has planted over 50 lakh trees in Bokaro and nearby regions. In FY 2024–25, the plant recorded the plantation of 1,10,173 saplings, with a target of 2 lakh more for FY 2025–26.
