Water supply disrupted in Bokaro Steel Plant (BSl) and Bokaro Steel township area on Wednesday night after a bridge collapsed and a huge breach occurred in the Tenu-Canal few feets ahead from the Tenu-Dam.
The bridge collapsed due to heavy load and huge flow of water in the canal which later created a large breach and washed away a huge part of the canal last night, district administration officials informed.
Huge and uncontrolled flow of water (after the breach) uprooted an electric pole which also disrupted power supply in the local areas, now repaired and power supply was restored, informed the official.
Work for earliest restoration of water supply is going on war foot basis; it may take 2-3 days to fully restore the water supply in BSl as well as in Bokaro township areas, said the official. Notably, ‘Tenu-Canal is the lifeline of Bokaro.
The disruption of water supply created panic situation among the mass as the rituals of Chhat will starts from Friday and devotees are in fray that how they will complete the Chhat rituals.
