A shocking case of sodomy has come to light after a 14-year-old boy in Ghaghidih-based remand home was allegedly sodomised by inmates recently. The boy who was lodged in the remand home after being arrested in connection with a bike-lifting case on August 13 this year was allegedly sodomised by adult inmates.
Sources informed that the boy who is a student of a city-based English medium school was arrested for being involved in a bike-lifting case registered with the Kadma police recently. Sources added that the parents of the victim frequently used to visit him at the remand home since he was put behind the bar.
On Friday morning, when the mother of the inmate visited him, instead of coming close to her, he started weeping and told her the ordeal. The inmate’s parents contacted the human rights outfit which made an inspection of the remand home on Saturday. As the news spread, the human rights body National Human Rights Organisation (NHRO) functionaries came into action.
Getting the complaint, the NHRO functionaries carried out an inspection of the remand home on Saturday afternoon. When contacted, Alen lakra an official of NHRO said that a 14-year-old boy, who was lodged in the remand home, has been allegedly sodomised by his elders.
The NHRO functionary said that the inmate’s parents had also accompanied the human rights activists. He said that during the inspection of the remand home, the boy revealed that he was sodomised by some of his fellow-inmates in the night before. lakra said the senior inmates had allegedly forced the boy to enter into a toilet where they had sodomised him. He informed that they had immediately consulted the in-charge of the remand home and separated the elder inmates from the minor ones.
However, officer-in-charge, Parsudih police station, Dayanand Kumar said that whether the 14-year-old inmate was sodomised is a matter of investigation. “We have come to know that the 14-year-old who came to the remand home four days ago had been assaulted by a senior inmate. We have separated all the minor inmates, including the 14-year-old from the senior after getting such complaint,” said Kumar
The officer-in-charge, Parsudih police station, under which jurisdiction the remand home falls, said that after the reports they have decided to get the senior inmate’s age verified as he appears not to be a juvenile, and also investigate that such incident never repeats.
