SAMVAD, an NGO working for child rights, on Sunday released a book, “Bachhon Ki Kalam Evam Koochi Kehti Hai: Khushhaal Ho Bachpan”, an illustration depicting child rights made by children.
The book comprising 23 articles, 38 paintings and sketches were selected out of 700 entries received from students of 15 schools spread across the city. The books will be given to school libraries in order to spread awareness on child rights besides encouraging students to learn the art of creative expression.
The paintings highlighted disparity in the prevailing education system besides background of the students, who are an integral part of it, reading in schools with inequality of resources. “It appears from the articles and paintings of the children studying in government schools that their past was not as pleasant as their counterparts studying in private schools,” said Rose Kerketta.
