Political parties always find it tough to showcase impressive numbers in their rallies and meetings during campaigning, and it is no different this time. In order to woo the voters, almost all parties are planning to rope in star campaigners by making film personalities campaign for them.
Taking the lead, the Congress is planning to rope in some star campaigners to add attraction in the Assembly elections in East Singhbhum district. Sources informed that the East Singhbhum district Congress has sent a list of campaigners to state president Sukhdeo Bhagat to ensure that the star campaigners are included in the itinerary.
While the party is seeking the presence of actors Nagma, Raj Babbar and Ravi Kishan, apart from Congress boss Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi, the list also includes the names of RJD supremo lalu Prasad and JD(U) convener Nitish Kumar to garner support.
When contacted District Congress president Vijay Khan said that party wants to woo all section of voters this is the prime reason why the list of campaigners have an equal mix of glamour and political names.
Apart from actors and other big wigs, senior state Congress leaders will also hit the campaign trail in the district. The party, to a large extent, will depend on Ajoy Kumar, the former Jamshedpur MP who recently joined the Congress. Kumar, a national spokesperson of the Congress, is a well-known figure and can still influence voters.
On the other hand the BJP is relying on its national leaders like PM Narendra Modi and national president Amit Shah for campaigning here. Anil Modi, district spokesperson said that the party will rely only on national leaders like PM Narendra Modi and national president Amit Shah. “ We have a lot of campaigners from the glamour world but we have decided to request the presence of our national leaders only. They will tie cord with the voters that will benefit the party,” said Modi.
Meanwhile, concerned over lack of star campaigners in the party, the activists of Jharkhand Vikas Moracha( JVM) are pinning hopes on the visit of former Jharkhand Chief Minister and the founder leader Babulal Marandi. Marandi is expected to kick start campaigning in Kolhan soon.
“We do not rely on the star campaigners; Babulal ji is a charismatic leader of our State. His visit is going to instill confidence among party workers and voters. He is the real star campaigner and will campaign for party candidates and spread the vision of party among the voters,” said Abhay Singh, a senior functionary of JVM.
He said that corruption and Maoist terror have peaked in the State. Development work has come to a standstill. People of the state will not forgive if efforts are not made sincerely for their welfare. Marandi is one such politician that has dared to take action against it.
