The Bokaro thermal police in-Charge,Prameshear Leyangi on Wednesday carried out raids on illegal sand mining operations and seized 2 overloaded tractors from Lal Chowk from the Thermal police station area.
Acting on a tip-off, raids were conducted at Lalpur chock and intercepted sand-laden tractors on the Bokaro thermal-Kanjkiro road under the jurisdiction of same police station early in the morning.
The vehicles were carrying sand from the Damodar river above the non- permissible limit. Later, FIRs were lodged against the owners and drivers of the seized vehicles bearing the registration number of Jharkhand. Sources that the drive was launched on the directive of the Bokaro DC as well as Bermo,CO,MN Mansuri.
Earlier dozen tractors carrying sand were seized by the police. The vehicles were engaged in transportation of sand in violation of the prescribed rules. Station in- Charge said FIRs were lodged against the owners, drivers and cleaners of the vehicles.
