Bokaro Superintendent of Police A Vijayalaxmi got transferred following the daring Naxal attack on Girdih MP Ravindar Panday’s transport company on Friday night. Bokaro Range DIG Sambhu Thakur took the additional charge of Bokaro SP, official sources informed.

On Friday night, heavily armed Maoists entered inside the Weighing House at CCl’s Khashmahal project area about 40 kms from the district headquarters of Bokaro. They surrounded the area, asked name of the transport company from the drivers and helpers of heavy trucks and later torched only those belonging to the Giridih MP’s transport company.

At least 24 Haywas were set on fire by the rebels. A special team led by IG (North Chhotanagpur) Tadasha Mishra has been constituted for investigation. “A combing operation has been launched,” said IG Tadasha Mishra.

Meanwhile, the State Government termed it’s the failure of district police which resulted into the incident and immediately removed the Bokaro SP on Sunday. Vijayalaxmi, the formerly Ranchi Special Branch SP had assumed charge as Superintendent of Police Bokaro on 20 February.
