Bokaro doctors to join strike after Govt nod for Ayurvedic doctors to do surgeries

Published on:

Indian Medical Association (IMA), Bokaro wing threatened to join nationwide stir on 11 December, in protest against a Central Council of Indian Medicine notification which authorises postgraduate practitioners in specified streams of Ayurveda to be trained to perform general surgical procedures.

We have decided to withdraw non-essential and non Covid services; emergency services will function along with ICUs and CCUs but no elective surgical case will be performed, said Dr Meeta Sinha IMA President Chas. She was addressing a doctor’s meet organsied at IMA building Chas.

We want an immediate withdrawal of both the notification of legal practices of Ayurveda-practitioners from the Central Council of Indian Medicine and the establishment of four Niti Aayog committees for integrating all medical systems, which would only lead to ‘mixopathy’, said Dr Sinha.
