Bokaro district admin all set to tackle bandh

Bandh’s call is unconstitutional; destroying Government property and road blocking is against law. Jharkhand Government is more concerned over it, a Government notification will be announced soon to tackle bandh, said Rai Mahimapath Ray Deputy Commissioner Bokaro.

Meanwhile, district administration Bokaro is all set to tackle bandh called by Jharkhand Mukti Morch (JMM) opposing the recent domicile policy on 14 May. “We are ready to tackle any adverse situation during banhd, cops are alerted and additional forces will be deployed for preventive measures, said DC adding “We keep watching on day-to-day activities and affairs over this bandh call. Photography and videography are on to avert any untoward incidents”.

Additional Paramilitary forces including SIF, CRPF and RPF would be deployed. In a bid mount down, necessary action would be taken under section 107 against the party top leaders as well as bandh supporters, he said adding “though it’s not yet decided but if needed they (top leaders) might be arrested before the bandh scheduled date”.

Mainly we are focusing on National Highways and Railways, so that traffic and transportations would not be affected and passengers would not get harassed, said Ray.

Protesting against the state government’s recent definition in domicile policy, the JMM has called a statewide bandh on May 14. The recent domicile policy defines, those who have been living in Jharkhand in pursuance of their business or jobs and have acquired immovable assets in the last 30 years (1986), or their children, would be considered local residents of the state but JMM wants last survey of records (1932) for the domicile.

Notably, the domicile issue was hanging in balance since the year 2000 from the inception of Jharkhand and earlier 9 chief ministers even JMM chief failed to do so. Now after 16 years it has been decided.
