Bokaro Deputy Commissioner Rai Mahimapat Ray on Monday was awarded by Secretary, Ministry of Water and Sanitation, Government of India for his efforts to make Bokaro almost open defecation free (ODF) district. Ray was felicitated at a programme organised at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi for achieving the targets in its district.
The DC said that various measures were taken to achieve the status, which included awareness measures, door –to-to door campaigning, construction of public toilets and installation of Bio-toilet. “We are happy to get the award .We make the general public aware of Bokaro about the ill-effects of open defecation. We will continue the drive,” said he.
