The Indian Express Excellence in Governance Awards attempts to identify and recognize the excellence in innovations at the district level by rewarding the spirit of the district as some of the most challenging tasks taken at the ground level are by the district magistrates at the district level. A district magistrate acts as a leader and top administrator whose unparalleled uniqueness makes them a chief actor in the district administration. As the awards help spread best practices across government, sharing innovation, leadership and learning hence 19 winners of the Indian Express Excellence in Governance Awards for 2020 and 2021, which were presented in New Delhi on Tuesday, where making Bokaro District proud as one of the prestigious winner DC Bokaro Kuldeep Chaudhary exemplified a basic that good governance is about accountability, participation, predictability, and transparency where now in modern days boost to the renewable sources of energy . Analogous to the same DC Bokaro awarded for his initiatives towards Solar based Lift irrigation, 36 units setup helped 820 farmers to increase their income and stepped up crop cover in the district by 59% for providing a sustainable solution using renewable energy. It is noteworthy that the awards, given away by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, celebrated excellence in administration across categories. Notably detailed reports on each of the projects, submitted by the DMs, were screened and the final winners were chosen by a jury headed by former Chief Justice Justice of India R M Lodha.
