As part of the state-wide awareness campaign against substance abuse, the Bokaro district administration launched its district-level programme on Tuesday with a strong message of prevention and rehabilitation. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha, along with District Public Relations Officer Ravi Kumar and Assistant PRO Avinash Kumar Singh, flagged off the awareness van from the Collectorate premises.
The campaign, running from 10 June to 26 June 2025, aims to sensitize people across all blocks of the district about the harmful effects of drugs and encourage them to lead a healthy, addiction-free life.
Speaking at the occasion, DC Ajay Nath Jha emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to combat drug abuse. “Success is possible only when people adopt this mission as their own,” he said. He flagged off three awareness vans that will travel across various blocks, spreading the message of a drug-free lifestyle.
Calling upon youth and the general public, he added, “Let life run free — our life must be drug-free. Each one of you plays a crucial role in nation-building. Break the cycle of addiction and connect with life instead.”
The DC also informed that the campaign will be conducted in coordination with departments like Social Welfare, Education, Panchayati Raj, and Information & Public Relations, ensuring daily activities across all blocks. These will include village-level ‘chaupals’, workshops at district and block levels, street plays at local markets, quiz and essay competitions in schools, and morning awareness marches (prabhat pheris).
In parallel, students from various schools actively participated in awareness marches across different blocks. Holding banners and raising slogans, they conveyed strong messages for a drug-free India, capturing the attention of local communities.
