At a time when the government machinery is working hard to bring back migrant labourers and students stranded in other States, the Bokaro district administration sent 130 Banjaras (wanderers), stuck at Jarandih railway station here, to their home State Delhi.
Bermo block officials are rigorously working to help the daily wage workers and the migrant workers as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to grow in the country, officials said.
On Saturday evening, the Bermo block development Officer Praveen Chaudhary sent 130 Banjaras to Delhi from Jarandih (Bokaro) in two buses that left in the evening.
Bokaro district administration procured the necessary permission from Jharkhand, Delhi and the Uttar Pradesh governments to send these workers home. After block officials charted out all the formalities, the block administration had two buses to accommodate 130 people who belong to Delhi.
In his interaction with media persons, the Circle Officer Manoj Kumar revealed that this is the first lot of the buses and more slots have been planned to send other workers to their hometowns in various other States.
Apart from taking care of their commutation, the BDO Praveen Chaudhary and Circle Officer Manoj Kumar have also organised for their food and water facilities.
They revealed, “This is the first lot of buses in Bermo. We arranged for fruits, meals, and water for their travel. The Jharkhand government officials helped us in organising the paperwork, and a special mention to the Delhi government for welcoming the migrants back home.”
They teamed up with the district administration to provide food to these 130 people amid the ongoing lockdown for two months.
Besides HRD minister Jagarnath Mahto and others, JMM leaders were present on the occasion.
