Body of three labourers reach Palamu from Kerala

The bodies of three migrant labourers of Palamu, who were found dead near a railway track at Kanjikode IIT on Monday night under Kerala State’s Palakkad district reached their respective homes in Palamu’s Pandu police station around 3 AM on Saturday. Their journey had begun on Wednesday night.

SDPO Bishrampur, Surjit Kumar said, “I was monitoring their arrival. There were other labourers of Palamu accompanying these bodies. I was in touch with them on phone but when their phones got discharged it was a real problem then.”

The SDPO said, “There are village leaders who want to exploit this kind of situation in the name of raising voices for ex gratia relief to be given to the bereaved families and keeping in view such a noise may erupt on arrival of the body of the labourers in Pandu I had made proper security arrangements too to avert any such ugly scene.”

“I assured the local village leaders that the administration is quite sensitive to this tragic loss of three lives of its people in Kerala and so their cremation is not delayed any more after the arrival of bodies in the villages,” said Kumar. It worked as the cremation of 3 went on peacefully.

Sources said it was no easy task for SP Palamu Ajay Linda and SDPO Surjit Kumar to communicate to police officials of Palakkad as Linda said, “The SP of that place in Kerala just refused to believe that I am an IPS officer of 2008 batch but someone else like any activist of human rights groups or civil liberties groups faking to be an IPS officer and thus trying to elicit information in regard to these three labourers to serve some other end.”

Linda confirming this ‘disbelieve on the part of Palakkad SP’ said, “I kept my cool. I did not react. I was to get the bodies of our people who were found dead there. After some time the same SP telephoned me only regretting what he told me earlier.”

SDPO Surjit Kumar had a similar situation to face during his communication to police station in Palakkad as Surjit Kumar said “The police officer on the other end in Kerala state just told me as to why he should believe me that I am an SDPO and not someone else faking to be a police officer.”

Sources said Palamu police have informed IG police Ranchi Zone Navin Kumar Singh about the arrival of the body of these labourers.
