Bodies of two miners  were  trapped in Khudia coal mines of Eastern Coalfields Limited ( ECL) under Nirsa police station  following sudden inundation of mines during wee hours of Tuesday could.not be traced out till Friday .

The miners have been identified as Basia Manjhi and Manoj Bouri — both pump operators. The team of divers from Cuttack, Odisha though made attempts to reach the bottom of the underground coal mines, due to high volume of water in the mines.

The team has asked to reduce the water by 15 meters and being to less than 50 meters then only they would be able to continue the rescue operations . The team felt loss of oxygen after 53 meters.

The ECL management has pressed in service five pumps to dewater the mines till the required level.

Dhanbad MP PN Singh visited the spot and took stock of the  ongoing rescue operations. Talking to media Singh said that the first priority is to get the trapped parsons out of mines. However, it is a matter of inquiry if there was water in mines why the miners were sent in for work.

Singh hoped that the team of divers would be able to trace the miners soon .

In another move the family members of both the trapped miners are on spot since the incident in hope of a miracle.

Wives of both miners said, we want our husbands back.

A team of senior officers from ECL headquarters too have reached the spot to oversee the operation.
