Online system of water connection was approved by the board of Ranchi Municipal Corporation on Tuesday and with the board members’ aye, the system will be implemented in full swing to expedite the application process for water connection in the municipal area.
The system has been operational since August 15 on pilot basis. The approval was the subset of the 11 point agenda that was tabled for the board members’ consideration on Tuesday. The municipal corporation will also organise special camps to sensitise people about the process of submitting application. The RMC has done away with the system of roping in RMC registered plumber for setting up connection.
“We will inaugurate it on September 15 and connection for water connection will formally begin from that day. A special camp will also be organised phase-wise from September 15-30 in different wards to disseminate information about the process,” said Town Commissioner, Prashant Kumar.
Notably, the board had authorised the Town Commissioner (June 16) to ease the process of obtaining water connection, find ways to cut red-tapism and do away with excessive documentation necessitated to get metered water supply for households. The online system will capture details of a household and an application number will be generated to facilitate tracking of the status. Final approval however will come only after a site inspection by the officials of water board. As per the overhauled system, an applicant can setup a connection in the presence of a Junior Engineer or Pipe line Inspector within 15-days from the date of approval.
“The project was done on pilot basis until now. After the inauguration people can obtain connection by either filling the form online or by submitting their documents at community service centre,” said Mayor, Asha lakra.
Incidentally, the board also approved guidelines for setting and maintenance mobile antenna on high-mast lights at squares and fixed rent for putting up by splitting the municipal area into three zones. Even as the rent for putting up mobile antenna in Zone-A will be Rs12,000, for Zone-B and Zone-C the rent has been fixed at Rs10,000 and Rs8,000 respectively. The board also resolved that a company interested in putting up antenna at locations where no high-mast light has been erected can do place the mobile infrastructure by setting up a high-mast light at the location.
A high-mast earlier registered in the name of the RMC needs to be transferred in the name of the agency willing to use the infrastructure for its benefit, resolved the board.
Among other agendas tabled for today’s discussion include-buying compactors and other equipments for solid waste collection, funds to be obtained under 14th Finance Commission and construction of roads, renaming squares and cleanliness in the municipal area.
