A blue bull has died of drowning at a water body in Dhawadeeh in Satbarwa block of Palamu.
The incident is of January 6 but report of its death reached PTR here in Daltonganj on Tuesday January 7. Sources said the blue bull commonly known as Neel Gai reached the water body which has enough water besides a huge nylon net to catch fish there and probably the animal got entangled in the fishing net leading to its death by drowning. The place of occurrence does not fall under the Palamu Tiger Reserve.
However the PTR top two field director Syed Ehtesham Hussain Kazmi and Divisional forest officer core Premjit Anand rushed to the place of occurrence as these two were informed of death of a bison, not blue bull. Anand said it was not any bison but a blue bull that really found dead there. This PTR official attributed this death of the blue bull to lack of breath in water causing a slow death of this wildlife too which is an endangered species.
The PTR officials were quite unhappy that DFO North Mahalinga whose jurisdiction is Satbarwa did not bother to accompany the PTR officials for the visit and inspection of the site of death of this wildlife. Anand said the DFO North first gave hint of going together but despite a wait of 45 minutes he finally said ‘Not going telling about some uneasiness in his stomach.
Sources said in non tiger reserve areas too has wildlife which are not cared much and remain unprotected. However none of the DFOs of forest divisions other than PTR are willing or ready to even acknowledge the presence of wildlife in their areas as this will mean extra pain and effort on their part for wildlife’s safety and security.
Hyena, leopard, deer too are found in areas other than PTR but these are the unfortunate ones as no government official own them only to avoid any complication arising in the event something wrong happens to these wildlife there in their areas.
