In yet another cold blooded murder of BJP leader in Jharkhand, Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha President Vicky Kumar Sahu (27) was shot dead by some unidentified criminals while he was returning home after playing cards with his friends, hardly 500 meters from his house on Saturday midnight.
Incidentally, this is the second murder of BJP leader in a row within a week in the State after lohardaga District BJP Unit Treasurer Pankaj Gupta was gunned down by unidentified criminals in front of a road side eatery at Nagri, barely 300 meters from the Police Station on the outskirts of State Capital last Sunday.
“Investigation is still on and we are also taking help of CID to get some lead in this regard. Meanwhile, some people have been picked up for interrogation on the basis of the suspicion expressed by the family members,” said Gumla SP Anshuman Kumar. Every possible angle is being considered to reach at any conclusion, added the SP.
When asked about land dispute or political rivalry behind the killing, Kumar said that it will be too early to say anything in this regard. Remarkably, after firing at least two bullets in his head and chest, the assailants cut his body into several pieces and also broke his left leg.
Family members told the police that some people came home at around 10 pm on Sunday night and called for gambling at a nearby place under a neem tree.
Kumar was returning home at around 1 am in midnight during which some unidentified persons, supposedly waiting for him for quite some time, attacked on him near Bazaar Tand More.
When his brother Janak Sahu rushed the spot after hearing bullet shots, Kumar was already dead. Police sources revealed that at least four persons had been detained after identified by the family members who were allegedly playing cards with Kumar just before he was killed.
Annoyed villagers of Silafari blocked NH 43 for over an hour on Sunday morning and agreed to recede only after assurance given by the police that the culprits will be arrested soon.
Similarly, four bullets were fired on Gupta’s body from close range when he was waiting outside the eatery for tea after having breakfast there; three of the bullets hit Gupta who died on the spot. Gupta had recently purchased three decimal of land in Nagri and had reached there from lohardaga to oversee construction of boundary wall being done around it.
Following directions from Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Ranchi SSP Kuldeep Dwivedi immediately formed SIT to probe the murder, but has failed to arrest anybody in this regard.
