BJYM demands priority to scribes in hospitalisation, Covid test

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha district’s former General Secretary Kunj Bihari Pathak demanded the district administration to give priority to journalists and their family members in Covid-19 tests and provide them facilities in hospitalisations in case they suffer from coronavirus infections.

Even in the most challenging circumstances, these journalists risk their lives and do their work, said Kunj, adding that scribes also help society in exceptional circumstances under social responsibility by becoming vigilant sentinels for the residents.

“When all the people were staying at home, the journalists were working in the field risking their lives. During this pandemic, their safety is a matter of concern for the society too,” he said.

Journalists are reporting from most adverse situations. They should be treated as frontline workers and should be allowed priority, said the BJP youth wing leader. “I have requested the Deputy Commissioner of Bokaro to take a quick note of this subject and do the needful for the journalists of the district at the earliest,” he said.

Notably, Bokaro saw a major spurt in fresh COVID-19 cases; the district recorded 305 new positive cases of coronavirus in a single day surge on Saturday. The total number of active cases rushed to around 1583 with 2 deaths in the district; 234 patients were recovered and discharged from COVID hospital..
