BJP up in arms against LWE menace in State

BJP legislature party leader and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi on Wednesday targeted the state government for deteriorating law and order along with spurt in Left Wing Extremism (LWE) menace in State.  Marandi, condemning the Maoists attack on former BJP MLA Gurcharan Nayak at Goelkera of West Singhbhum district on Tuesday said that due to State Government softness towards LWE activists such incidents are occurring regularly. The BJP leader also termed the present government as Naxal sympathizers.

Former BJP MLA Gurucharan Nayak narrowly escaped Maoist attack in West Singhbhum district on Tuesday (December 4) evening, but two of his bodyguards Shankar Nayak and Thakur Hembrom lost their life after Maoists slit their throat. The incident took place at a public function in West Singhbhum district. The third bodyguard Ramkumar Tudu somehow managed to save his life as he fled away from the spot after fighting with Maoists to save two others.

Marandi on Wednesday met Nayak and family members of deceased cops. Meanwhile, on Wednesday when Marandi’s convoy reached Chakradharpur, he was stopped from going to Sonua/Goelkera. The police stopped the former Chief Minister from proceeding further citing security reasons. However, the former Chief Minister was adamant about visiting the village. Later Marandi, along with his supporters staged a dharna in protest against the police highhandedness. The former  Chief Minister also talked to the DGP apprising him about the situation. After two hours, the administration had to bow down and Marandi was allowed to go to Sonua and meet former MLA Gurucharan Nayak and his family members. Marandi enquired about the incident and also  took stock of the situation from the villagers.

Targeting the state government he said that after the formation of the JMM/Congress government, Naxal incidents in the State had gone up.

He said months after the formation of the JMM/Congress government supporters of ‘Pathalgadhi’ movement, armed with lathis and axes, allegedly kidnapped seven villagers and later killed them in the West Singhbhum district in January 2020.

The Maoist attack on a former BJP legislator in West Singhbhum on January 4 has given former chief minister Raghubar Das a chance to attack the Hemant Soren government, who succeeded him in 2019.“The difference is clear. Naxalites were roaming in hiding in our government, but today their morale is sky-high.

When action is not taken for pasting posters on the wall of Raj Bhavan, then obviously their morale will increase,” Das tweeted taking serious note of the attack on Gurucharan Nayak.

“Politics has its place dear Chief Minister but any laxity with security is not appropriate,” Das added to his tweet.Ranchi MLA and former minister CP Singh too condemned the Goelkera incident saying that the former MLA's life was saved but two brave soldiers were martyred. CP Singh said that the achievement of our government was that extremists, Maoists and Naxalites had left the violence and hid in the bills. Law and order is so loose in the present government that they have started raising their heads again. On the lynching law, CP Singh said that, has there ever been a bigger lynching in the country than the 1984 Sikh riots. He said that the word lynching is a word coined by people designed to please a particular community.
