Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), on Thursday alleged the Central Government and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of destabilizing the State Government again through the Election Commission after ED and CBI.
Addressing a press meet, JMM General Secretary cum Spokesperson, Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the way the ECI team came to Jharkhand and the way they are holding meetings, an attempt is being made to create confusion and fear among the officials. Elections are not possible in Jharkhand till Chhath from religious, cultural and geographical point of view, he added.
“After all, what is BJP afraid of? What will be achieved by holding early elections in every State in the whole Country, BJP should answer this. BJP does not want the benefits of the State Government's schemes to reach the people. If there is an attempt to forcibly impose early elections in Jharkhand, then JMM will give a befitting reply,” said Bhattacharya.
The party General Secretary said that there will be Shravan month between July and August. “Lakhs of people from the Country also come to Deoghar in Bhado. Apart from this, many types of festivals are celebrated in Bhado including Janmashtami, Karma. In Ashwin, Mahalaya is on October 2. Navratri will begin on October 3. Vijayadashmi will be on October 12. On October 17, there is Lakkhi Puja which is celebrated as a festival in the entire Santhal and Kolhan region. Amavasya and Kali Puja on October 21. After this, Deepawali is on November 7 and then Chhath after six days. Not only this, during Chhath, lakhs of people from UP and Bihar who live here go back to their ancestral places. They return after the month of Kartik. The entire Kartik is a festival. If we talk about rain, then monsoon is late in Jharkhand. Therefore, from July to September, it will be the time for farming. Now, in such a situation, conducting elections will be completely undemocratic and unconstitutional,” he added.
Bhattacharya said that according to a decision of the High Court, the ECI has received the direction to complete the elections in Jammu and Kashmir by September 30. “Under the guise of this, the Government has the intention of conducting elections in Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. But this would be wrong. Wherever there is a BJP Government, why does it not hold early elections there? After all, will the sky fall if elections are not held in Jharkhand for three more months?,” he added.
The party Spokesperson said that actually this entire conspiracy is being hatched keeping in mind the schemes announced by the Jharkhand Government and the schedule of giving Government jobs so that its benefits do not reach the public. “ECI can hold elections in Jharkhand anytime between November 10 to December 20, it is welcome because the term of the current assembly in Jharkhand expires on January 4 2025. Therefore, BJP should not play with the religious and cultural sentiments of the people of Jharkhand under the guise of ECI, otherwise it will be opposed,” he added.
