After its two-day executive committee meeting at Jharia in Dhanbad, the State BJP unit vowed to intensify its agitation against President's Rule and resolved to put the Raj Bhawan on seize from July 14 with thousands of party workers, State party president Ravindra Rai said.
The party has also threatened to “social boycott”the Governor and stop power and water supply to Raj Bhawan, if the Assembly is not dissolved soon. The six-month tenure of the President's Rule is expiring on July 18.
Rai, during the meeting, asked his party colleagues make grass root preparations for Assembly and lok Sabha elections. It was also announced during the two-day meet that the party would contest the Assembly polls and general elections independently on all 81 and 14 seats respectively in Jharkhand.
Expressing deep concerns over the Centre's ploy to elongate President's Rule in the State, Rai blamed it as a barrier in holistic development of the State as well as poor residents.
Branding the President's Rule as a hurdle in development and beyond the democracy, Rai said, “President's Rule is not an alternative in a democratic system. There should be a fresh mandate to give a stable and lasting Government.”
Demanding immediate dissolution of Assembly by July 13 and fresh election for new mandate, the BJP threatened to gherao Raj Bhavan from July 14.
“We have decided to socially boycott and discontinue power and water supply of Raj Bhavan if Governor Syed Ahmed fails to recommend dissolution of the House before July 13,”Rai said.
